Exhibit: Another Field of Firsts: African American Aviators in Prince George's County

In 1941, John W. Greene and Dr. C.M. Gill became the first African Americans to operate a licensed airport in Maryland--The Columbia Air Center. It operated from 1941-1956. Learn about the evolution of the airport as a haven from racial discrimination at other airports to being the home of the first black Civil Air Patrol squadron in the region. Opening February 11.

This special tour will tell you about some of Prince George's County's lesser known aviation pioneers. You'll learn about pilots who gained national and local fame by taking to the sky. Sat., Feb. 13, 1 pm. Free with museum admission.
