Michael Franch discussion: Disabilities and the Inclusive Society

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Join Michael Franch in a conversation about what it means to be an inclusive society in today's world.  How do you fit into society? More specifically, how do you accept and integrate those with disabilities into your world? An inclusive society is a society that overrides differences of race, gender, class, generation, and geography, and ensures inclusion and equality of opportunity. This discussion will further discuss how the capability of all societal members can determine an agreed set of social institutions that govern social interaction.

In 2007, Michael Franch retired from his day job as a health policy analyst in the Medicaid Program of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Mike earned his Ph.D. in history at the University of Maryland. His articles on Baltimore history have appeared in the Maryland Historical Magazine, The Sun Magazine, and in the book, Maryland: Unity in Diversity. He also speaks on historical and cultural issues for the Maryland Humanities Council and is active in the Baltimore Folk Music Society.
