Veterans History Project Motivated by the desire to honor our nation's war veterans for their service and to collect their stories and experiences, the U.S. Congress created the Veterans History Project (VHP). Congressman Steny Hoyer of Maryland is one of the original sponsors of the legislation that created the Veterans History Project, which was signed into law by President Clinton in October 2000. The law called upon the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress to collect and preserve the collected oral histories along with documentary materials such as letters, diaries, maps, photos and movies of America's war veterans and those who served in support of them. See how you can get involved .
