Volunteering with Us
The Mission of the College Park Aviation Museum is to interpret, preserve, promote and research the history and collection of the College Park Airport and early aviation in general.
Volunteers can become involved with the museum by assisting staff in daily programs, tours, and events. Volunteers fill extremely important positions!!!!
Museum admission and Gift shop sales: Volunteers work at the museum admission desk where they are on the front lines interacting with visitors of all ages on a daily basis. Volunteers welcome visitors and provide information and answer questions about our exhibitions, activities, and services, operate a cash register (computer) and assist with sales at the gift shop.
Program and Event workers: Volunteers assist visitors with activities and crafts for these specific events or programs.
Tour guides: On the last Saturday of the month, volunteers share the history of College Park Airport from its inception in 1909 to the present times. Tour guides must have interest in history and good communication skills. Training will be provided.
Workshop/Restoration: Volunteers build and maintain exhibits, including vintage/reproduction aircraft, educational aides and pedal planes.
Benefits of Volunteering:
Free membership to the museum
15% discount in the gift shop
Free admission to programs and lectures
Opportunity to meet others interested in volunteerism and aviation
